§ Mr. NewtonOn 7 June I announced, with the agreement of the profession's representatives, a programme to eliminate, wherever possible, regular rota commitments requiring junior hospital doctors to be on duty, on average, for more than one night and one weekend in three. Health authorities are expected to report to the Department by the end of July on how they proposed to take forward this task.
