§ Mr. Atkins[holding answer 30 June 1988]: In the period since 1979 the British Steel Corporation has received approximately £13.5 million from the EEC in respect of grants for research work. It is not possible to break this down by plant as the grants have been applied across the corporation. No other EEC grants have been made to BSC since 1979.
