HC Deb 04 July 1988 vol 136 cc438-9W
Mr. Shersby

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what treatments are available for Retinitis pigmentosa; what advice his Department has given to general medical practitioners about this disease; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

Treatment of retinitis pigmentosa, which is a congenital degenerative disease of the eye, will be for the clinical judgment of the consultant in charge of the individual patient's case. This is not a matter on which the Department would give advice.
