§ Mr. Campbell-SavoursTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement concerning recent European Community proposals for environmental improvements in farming practices.
§ Mr. MacGregorThe EC Commission recently published a document entitled "Environment and Agriculture", which aims to establish guidelines for the development of future policies. At the Council of Agriculture Ministers on 13–17 June, the Commission invited Agriculture Ministers to consider the document. While acknowledging that a number of measures have already been adopted in the agricultural sector which serve to protect and enhance the environment, the Commission states its intention to bring forward additional proposals before the end of 1988.
