The table gives the net cost (after allowing for patient charges) of the general dental service for people aged under 16, between the ages of 16 to 20 years and aged 21 years and over, for each year between 1975 and 1985. The basis of these figures was changed to the financial year in 1986, and the table includes the costs for 1986–87, the latest year for which this information is available. Similar information is not collected on the costs of dental services provided through the hospital and community health services.
