The figures that are regularly collected centrally relate to entire police force areas; they are published each year in the Command Paper "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales" (tables 2.4. to 2.6 in the issue for 1986, Cm. 233). Copies of both publications are available in the Library. Figures for 1987 are not yet available.
