§ Mr. William RossTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the time lapse between the importation of a new vehicle into Northern Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the payment of value added tax on such a vehicle; and whether he has any plans to reduce that period.
§ Mr. Lilley[holding answer 27 January 1988]: Value added tax is payable at the time of importation or may be deferred, under guarantee arrangements, until the 15th day of the month following importation.
There are no plans to reduce the period of payment by deferment.
