What is the explanation for the increase in intrusions by extraneous vessels into the safety zones of oil and gas installations on the British continental shelf in the last two years?

Although there are no quantifiable reasons for the increase in the number of safety zone infringements by craft other than fishing vessels over the last two years, the Department of Energy has continued to emphasise the need for offshore operators to report all infringements around their installations. It is possible that this has resulted in improved reporting.
