§ 69. Mr. CryerTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give the number of United States bases(a) operational, (b) part operational and (c) available for use in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Ian StewartSixty-six bases and facilities are currently made available for use by United States forces in the United Kingdom. There are also two armament depots run by United Kingdom civilians on behalf of NATO which provide a service for United States forces.
The 66 bases and facilities comprise seven main operating bases, two GLCM bases, 26 storage/support facilities and 22 communications facilities, all of which are fully operational, as well as two standby deployment bases and seven contingency wartime hospitals.
