HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 c139W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the total number of stations covered by the station modernisation of London Underground Limited as described in paragraph 15 of the annual business plan of London Regional Transport, together with(a) expenditure already incurred (b) expenditure already committed and (c) the total sums paid to each to the five contractors, respectively, receiving the highest global sums together with the number of stations contracts awarded to each.

Mr. David Mitchell

The latest reported information shows that expenditure to date on the station modernisation programme, begun in 1981, is £73 million, with a further £32 million committed (1987 prices). The figures include additional maintenance and repair work undertaken during modernisation. The programme affects 138 stations in whole or in part. Information on the value of contracts placed respectively with individual contractors since 1981 is not readily available.
