§ Dr. CunninghamTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish the figures for the average increase in rental values determined for rating purposes of non-domestic properties for each year since 1973.
§ Mr. Norman Lamont[holding answer 22 January 1988]: At present, the rateable values of all properties are based on the level of annual rental values for similar properties at the time when the current valuation list came into force on 1 April 1973. The rateable values so determined are not adjusted to take account of any subsequent changes in the level of rental values which may occur during the currency of the list.
