HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 c9W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what contact has been made by his Department with Mrs. E. P. Wright and her husband, who is currently in a diabetic coma in Cyprus and about whom the hon. Member for Macclesfield has written to him; what steps have been taken by his Department to assist Mrs. E. P. Wright with the health care of her husband in Cyprus; and if he will arrange for the husband of Mrs. E. P. Wright to be flown to the United Kingdom from Cyprus to receive medical care.

Mr. Eggar

The British high commission, Nicosia, was aware of Mr. Wright's illness and was in touch with his wife. Mr. Wright was due to be admitted to the Royal Military hospital at RAF Akrotiri for assessment on 18 January 1988 with a view to possible medical repatriation by the RAF at his own expense. Mr. Wright, sadly, died shortly before admission.
