§ Mr. SpeedTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give urgent consideration to the capacity of the M2/A2 roads between the M25 motorway and Dover, and what recent studies have been undertaken on those routes.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyFollowing a study, a scheme to widen the present dual two-lane section of the M2 between junctions 1 and 3 was added to the programme last year. Work to provide hard shoulders on the A2 from the London boundary to the M2, phased over a six-year period to 1991, will continue. No other major improvements to the A2/M2 route are planned at present. The position will be kept under review.
