HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 c39W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many consultation papers have now been issued by the London residuary body in respect of Hampstead Heath; what was the date of issue and the consultation period in each case; and when he now expects a conclusion to be reached.

Mr. Chope

The London residuary body has issued three consultation documents on the future of Hampstead Heath. The first was issued in July 1986 and was intended to provide a starting point for discussion about the future of the heath. The consultation period ended on 30 September 1986. The second was issued on 30 January 1987 and sought comments by 30 April 1987 on the main options which had emerged. The most recent was issued on 11 January this year. It sets out further details of the current options and asks for comments by 19 February. As I stated in my answer on 20 January, at column 758, the LRB expects to make its recommendations to the Secretary of State thereafter with a view to a formal transfer of the heath as from 1 April 1989.
