§ Mr. David PorterTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the implications for his Department's(a) planning and (b) spending on education of recent projections published by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys that East Anglia will have in the next 13 years the greatest proportionate population increase of both people moving in and of new births of any English region.
§ Mrs. RumboldThe Department's plans take account of projected changes in the population at national level; these projections are the aggregate of projections for 7W individual regions. Most education in East Anglia is provided by the local education authorities for the area; these authorities will wish to take account of the recent projections in their planning. My right hon. Friend takes account of the particular circumstances of each local authority area when making decisions affecting individual authorities.
