HC Deb 25 January 1988 vol 126 cc3-4W
68. Mrs. John Browne

To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what steps he has taken to improve the clarity and presentation of Government forms, to make them more easy to use and to eliminate those which are unnecessary.

Mr. Luce

Government forms are now easier to understand, simpler to complete and more attractive than ever before. In December 1987 Government Departments won two of the eight annual awards presented by the Plain English Campaign. Since 1985, 20,000 forms have been improved and a further 11,000 have been scrapped. A copy of the latest progress report on this work has been placed in the Libraries of Parliament.
