HC Deb 22 January 1988 vol 125 cc886-7W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how many workers at the British Nuclear Fuels reprocessing plant at Sellafield have exceeded the level for radiation at which an investigation has to be carried out; whether any of them is entitled to apply for compensation; what plans Her Majesty's Government have to improve the safety of such workers; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I have asked the chairman of British Nuclear Fuels plc to reply to the detailed questions raised by the hon. Member.

BNF plc, like any other licensed nuclear operator, must continue to meet the requirements of the independent Health and Safety Executive. Good progress has been made in meeting those requirements specified in HSE's initial audit report on the implementation of safety changes at Sellafield.
