The A12 trunk road currently ends at the Green Man roundabout, Leytonstone. We are planning a new all-purpose dual carriageway from the M11-A12 junction at Redbridge roundabout which will extend it as far as the A102(M) at Hackney Wick and relieve the traffic-congested shopping and residential streets through Stratford, Leyton, Leytonstone and Wanstead. Subject to completion of the necessary statutory procedures, work should start in 1990 and take at least three and a half years. Options for dealing with problems in the area between Aldgate and Hackney are being considered as part of the east London assessment study.
