§ Mr. CohenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will provide a detailed list in the Library of all video films which the British Board of Film Classification has so far refused to classify or has censored in some way, together with a summary of the reason for so doing in each case.
§ Mr. RentonArrangements have been made to have placed in the Library a consolidated list published last year by the board of decisions made under the Video Recordings Act in 1985 and 1986. The board is at present710W preparing a further consolidated list which will, in addition, record decisions made in 1987, and a copy of this will be placed in the Library when it is available. The list shows those works in respect of which the board decided not to issue a classification certificate and those which were given a certificate only after cuts had been made. It does not record the reasons in each case, but the board's annual report for 1986, copies of which are in the Library, explains the main grounds on which the board refuses a classification certificate or cuts works before classification. If the hon. Member wishes to know the reasons in any particular instance, I am sure the board would be glad to explain them to him.
