§ Mr. John GarrettTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) whether he proposes to continue in the current year the Agricultural Development Advisory Service scheme to monitor water erosion of arable land in England and Wales; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he will establish a body to investigate soil erosion; and if he will make a statement;
(3) what plans his Department has to monitor soil erosion in upland areas of England and Wales.
§ Mr. Donald ThompsonThe results of a five-year collaborative project which studied soil erosion on arable land are now being assessed by a small working group comprising representatives of the main interested organisations. This group will draw up proposals for further work covering soil erosion on lowland arable land and in the uplands.
