HC Deb 20 January 1988 vol 125 c718W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what advice is being provided by the Scottish Education Department to local education authorities on the characteristics of school computers to be purchased when they come to replace the current BBC models.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

We have no plans to issue advice direct to education authorities in Scotland. One of the functions of the Scottish Council for Educational Technology is to advise on computers in schools. In discharge of that it is in regular and continuing discussion with education authorities about the specification and the facilities which are desirable in school computer hardware.
