§ Mr. WigleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales under what circumstances each of the Welsh health authorities expect patients to attend hospital by public transport rather than ambulance.
§ Mr. Grist[holding answer 19 January 1988]: All health authorities in Wales apply the guidance issued in Welsh health circular (77)4. Ambulance transport is provided for patients medically unfit to travel by other means. Patients not in medical need are expected to travel by private or public transport. Individual cases of difficulty are treated sympathetically.
