To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the total number of(a) United States and (b) United Kingdom military bases and facilities in the United Kingdom.

There are approximately 700 principal military bases and facilities in the United Kingdom wholly under United Kingdom command. There are a further 66 military bases and facilities in the United Kingdom made available for use by United States forces under United States national command. In addition, there are two armament depots run by United Kingdom civilians on behalf of NATO which provide a service for United States forces.
