HC Deb 20 January 1988 vol 125 c724W
Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he intends to consider and take any action in regard to the Civil Aviation Authority's draft charging proposals for Manchester airport and their implications for the gateway international airport status of Manchester, for the Government's national aviation policy objectives and for the future economic progress of the north-west region; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Under the provisions of part IV of the Airports Act 1986, the charging proposals are now a matter for the CAA alone. The authority is fully aware of the Government's published aviation policy, including its policy on the gateway status and development of Manchester airport.
