§ Mr. LofthouseTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the amount of Government funding for each year since 1979 to(a) Pontefract district health authority and (b) the Yorkshire regional health authority, based on (i) actual amounts, (ii) in real terms at the current year's prices and (iii) in real terms at the current year's prices based on information he may have for National Health Service inflation costs.
§ Mrs. CurrieThe available information is shown in the table. Information is not available on a district basis for the years prior to the 1982 reorganisation of the National Health Service. Comparable information for 1987–88 will not be available until after the end of the financial year.
It is inappropriate to revalue district health authority expenditure by reference to centrally assessed movements in hospital and community health services pay and prices as the local composition of that expenditure can differ significantly from the national average.
