HC Deb 18 January 1988 vol 125 c530W
Mr. David Howell

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received concerning the rising volume of traffic noise for residents in the Onslow village area, adjacent to the A3 at Guildford; what studies he has made of this increase in noise volume; and what steps his Department plans to take to offset the environmental noise pollution involved.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

In addition to representations by my right hon. Friend, two residents of Onslow village have written to the Department about traffic noise in the last 12 months.

We are investigating the noise levels and the possible benefits of barriers at certain locations on this section of the A3. It is too soon to say whether noise protection is feasible or can be justified.
