HC Deb 18 January 1988 vol 125 c548W
Mr. John D. Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when was the last survey of fire hydrants in the Portaferry turnout area; what assessment he has made of(a) the adequacy of the number of fire hydrants in this rural area and (b) sufficiency of the existing two diameter water mains for fire hydrants; if he has any plans to improve either the water mains or number of fire hydrants in this area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Needham

A survey of fire hydrant requirements in the Portaferry area is currently being conducted by the Fire Authority for Northern Ireland. The survey, which is expected to be completed by the middle of this year, will examine the adequacy of the number of existing hydrants and the sufficiency of existing water mains and will make recommendations.
