HC Deb 18 January 1988 vol 125 cc547-8W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if, in the light of the formal public circulation of his Department's circular 44/87 and its subsequent withdrawal, and of its submission as evidence by both parties in the public inquiry held at the Guildhall, Swansea, relating to proposed executive houses at Murton lane, Newton, Swansea, he will now formally recover jurisdiction and determine this inquiry; and if he will make a statement on the circumstances of the distribution of circular 44/87 and on its status.

Mr. Grist

As I have already explained to the hon. Gentleman my right hon. Friend sees no reason to recover jurisdiction from the appointed inspector. Copies of a document which appeared to be an updated version of circular 30/86 have been received by some local authorities. No further circular on this subject has been issued and circular 30/86 continues in force.
