To ask the Secretary of State for Wales whether he is considering commissioning a survey of disabled students in higher and further education in Wales similar to the survey commissioned on the situation in England by the Department of Education and Science and published in 1987.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

It is not intended to commission a survey on this subject in Wales, but plans are being developed to collect information on students with special educational needs at Welsh institutions of further and higher education in the public sector annually, commencing in academic year 1988–89.
