HC Deb 13 January 1988 vol 125 c296W
Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is the current timetable for the completion of the long-term safety reviews by the nuclear installations inspectorate of the following reactors: Sizewell A, Berkeley, Oldbury, Trawsfynydd, and Hinckley A.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Nuclear Installations Inspectorate of the Health and Safety Executive requires nuclear power station operators to carry out overall longterm reviews of safety of Magnox stations after about 20 years of operation and submit these to it. The NII publishes its findings of these assessments.

The CEGB has completed its review of Berkeley and the NII's findings on this review will be published shortly. According to the current timetable, the CEGB should complete reviews of the other stations listed during 1988. The NII's findings on each review will be published thereafter.
