HC Deb 13 January 1988 vol 125 cc275-7W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has about the current number of residential mortgages remaining with the London Residuary Body.

Mr. Waldegraye

At the end of December, 31,446 residential mortgages remained with the LRB.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give details by boroughs of the amounts distributed by the London Residuary Body since the commencement of the current financial year.

Mr. Chope

Firm figures in respect of the amount distributed by the London Residuary Body since the commencement of the current financial year will not be available until LRB's 1987–88 accounts have been audited and certified. However, LRB's latest estimate, as set out in its 1987–88 budget, of distributable revenue balances during the year is shown at table A.

These figures reflect the substantial progress already made by LRB in disposing of surplus land and property previously held by the Greater London council, to the benefit of the ratepayers of London.

Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if all moneys owed to the London Residuary Body by Government Departments have now been paid; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

I refer the hon. Member to my answer to him of 22 October 1987. Discussions between the LRB and the Department are continuing, as are investigations by the district auditors.
