To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the current establishment of the Fire Services Inspectorate covering Crown properties in England and Wales; how many of these posts are at present occupied; when the occupants are due to retire; and what arrangements are being made to fill vacancies caused by retirement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The complement of Crown inspectors in the premises and inspection group of the fire service inspectorate is one grade 11 inspector and 10 assistant inspectors; two posts are presently occupied; the grade II inspector is due to retire at the end of 1988. Vacancies are being advertised in the national press frorn 21 January.
