HC Deb 13 January 1988 vol 125 c265W
Mr. Ashley

To ask the Attorney-General if he will initiate legislation, in consultation with the Law Society, to prevent companies from making it a condition of a compensation settlement that the solicitors involved do not act for other claimants.

The Attorney-General

The Government do not at present consider that legislation would be appropriate. The Law Society is giving consideration to the matter as a question of professional practice, and the Government will await the outcome of its deliberations.
