To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether his Department is yet in a position to make a statement on funding for the proposed diploma of qualification in social work, in the light of the training recommendations of the recent Blom-Cooper report.

The Government are currently considering the proposals for the qualifying diploma in social work and hope to make an announcement shortly.
