HC Deb 12 January 1988 vol 125 cc195-6W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if any discussions have taken place between his Department and the London Docklands Development Corporation on the use of London City airport by jet aircraft; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if any consideration is being given by the Civil Aviation Authority or his Department to the use of BAe 146–200 aircraft at London City airport; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

No proposals have been put to the Department about the use of jets at London City airport. The Department has, however, on a contingency basis sought and received assurances from LDDC that any planning applications concerning future uses of the airport will be drawn to the Department's attention. The only discussions which have taken place have concerned safeguarding arrangements.
