HC Deb 12 January 1988 vol 125 cc199-200W
Mr. Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his reply of 16 December,Official Report, column 536, regarding the International Military Supplies Office in Tehran; what is the purpose of this office; how many people are employed in Tehran; if any Iranian citizens; and what is the address.

Mr. Sainsbury

IMS (Iran) Ltd. was set up in 1973. It has its office in Tehran (PO Box 19395/1695). Its activities before the revolution were limited to making administrative arrangements in Iran in support of the various contracts between International Military Services Ltd. and the Iranian Government. Following the revolution the office was kept open with a skeleton staff to assist in processing the negotiation and settlement of previous contracts. This office remains open, although for the present it is on a care-and-maintenance basis, with only one member of staff, an Iranian citizen. The position of the office is reviewed by IMS regularly.
