HC Deb 12 January 1988 vol 125 c189W
Mr. Geraint Howells

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many miles of hedgerows have been lost in Wales during the last 10 years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Walker

Information is not available over this time scale. Results from the monitoring landscape change survey conducted by Huntings Technical Services and published in 1986 indicated that hedgerow length in Wales fell from approximately 77,688 miles in 1969 to approximately 70,850 miles in 1985.
