§ Mr. ScottRepresentations have been received recently on a range of subjects relating to the care of handicapped children of which the major issues raised concern the provision of conductive education and implementation of sections 5 and 6 of the Disabled Persons (Services, Consultation and Representation) Act 1986.
Our position on conductive education was set out in the reply to the right hon. Member for Stoke-on-Trent, South (Mr. Ashley) on 24 November 1987 at columns 180–81 and I announced that implementation of sections 5 and 6 of the 1986 Act would take effect on 1 February 1988 in my reply to the hon. Member for Monklands, West (Mr. Clarke) on 4 November 1987 at column 783.
