To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what are(a) the rateable values and (b) the rates payable for the British Steel Corporation's integrated steelworks; and on what basis they are levied.

The rateable values and rates payable for the British Steel Corporation's integrated steel works are as follows:

These figures relate to the 1987–88 rate year which ends on 31 March 1988. The rates are levied on the rate in the pound adopted for other non-domestic properties in the particular area of the rating authority. The works are assessed in accordance with general rating law and not under any special statutory formula.
