(2) if he will make a statement on the implementation of the report of the Health and Safety Executive, published on 14 December, arising from the Health and Safety Executive safety audit on Sellafield published in December 1986; and if he will make a statement on the present state of containment of nuclear wastes at Sellafield and on levels of radiation exposure to workers at the Sellafield site.

I welcome the HSE's recent report which acknowledges the good progress made by British Nuclear Fuels plc in meeting the requirements specified in the HSE's initial audit report. The company's plans for dealing with waste on site are well advanced and it aims to keep worker dose as low as reasonablly achievable consistent with practice throughout the nuclear industry.
