§ Mr. CopeAs at November 1987, 23,536 YTS places were available on Merseyside.
Places are offered by the local authority careers service and by employers, and the percentage of young people in the area that have been offered and accepted a place is not available to the Department.
However, since 1 April 1987, some 13,000 young people on Merseyside have left school and accepted a place on YTS.
