Mr. Rooker

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if, pursuant to his reply of 18 December,Official Report, column 815, he will list the uses other than determination of age that an adult's date of birth will be put to in respect of the poll tax;

(2) why, pursuant to his reply of 18 December, Official Report, column 815, a statement that a person is over 18 years is not sufficient in order to compile the community charge register.

Section 13(1)(d) of the Abolition of Domestic Rates Etc. (Scotland) Act 1987 provides for dates of birth to be included in the community charges register in order to assist community charges registration officers in clearly identifying individuals and in establishing their community charge liability.
