HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c1W
Mr. Rooker

To ask the Prime Minister if domestic rates are payable in respect of any part of No. 10 Downing street.

The Prime Minister

Occupations by the Crown are exempt from rating, but contributions in lieu of rates are made by the Treasury (rating of Government property department) on the basis of values determined by the Treasury Valuer. It is normal practice for a single rateable value to be determined for each large complex.
