§ Mr. David MitchellIt is not expected that LRT will need further revenue support after the end of the current financial year, but substantial grants will continue to be made to finance capital investment.
§ 20. Mr. ChapmanTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on capital investment in London Regional Transport's Underground in the current and the next financial year and with particular reference to plans for capital expenditure on the Northern line.
§ Mr. David MitchellCapital expenditure this year on the underground is expected to be £199 million, and well in excess of £200 million next year. Current plans for the Northern line include an additional eight trains next year, and investment of £45 million over the next three years on continuing station modernisation, lifts and escalators, signalling and better communications and passenger information systems.
