HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 cc186-7W
Mr. Lofthouse

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list all those hospitals in England that have been (a) closed or (b) partially closed without having been referred to him, and where local consultation has not taken place.

Mrs. Currie

[holding answer 14 December 1987]: Provision is made for urgent temporary closures to be implemented without consultation. We do not routinely collect statistics about hospital closures for which statutory consultation has not been necessary.
