HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c143W
Mr. Curry

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to the saving made by Cumbria county council as a result of bus deregulation.

Mr. David Mitchell

Cumbria county council's spending on revenue support for passenger transport in 1985–86, the last full year before deregulation, was £1.26 million. In 1987–88 it has budgeted to spend £500,000, a reduction of £760,000 or 60 per cent.
