HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c188W
Dr. Glyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the latest figures for the incidence of breast cancer in women.

Mrs. Currie

[holding answer 18 December 1987]: The nearest available information on the incidence of cancer is the registration of newly diagnosed cases of cancer. The provisional number of registrations of malignant neoplasm of female breast cancer (International Classification of Diseases 9th revision 174) for England and Wales in 1984 is 21,474; 13,641 women died of the disease in 1986 in England and Wales.
