HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c69W
Mr. Rogers

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the total cost of the improved United Kingdom air defence ground environment to date.

Mr. Sainsbury

It is estimated that expenditure on the improved United Kingdom air defence ground environment to the end of the current financial year will be £386 million (at 1987–88 prices) for the command and control system, new radars and communications. In addition, £44 million (at outturn prices) has been spent on associated works services. The contracts for the system are at fixed prices and over half the overall cost is being recovered from NATO.
