HC Deb 29 February 1988 vol 128 cc452-3W
Mr. Lawrence

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the average cost per patient treated over each of the past three years in(a) each of the Birmingham hospitals, (b) the Burton upon Trent hospitals and (c) the other South East Staffordshire district health authority hospitals.

Mrs. Currie

I regret that this information could not be provided only at disproportionate cost. However, in 1986–87, costing returns submitted by the five Birmingham health authorities and by South East Staffordshire health authority show average costs per patient treated in major acute hospitals were as in the table. My hon. Friend may like to contact the West Midlands regional health authority for further information.
