HC Deb 29 February 1988 vol 128 cc419-20W
Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what safeguards the Army has to prevent false information being given to the Army medical board.

Mr. Freeman

The Army medical board considers both the clinical assessment and information provided by the patient. The clinical assessment may be confirmed by a second opinion, where this is considered appropriate, by the doctor treating the patient.

Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence which type of Army medical board sat on the case of Captain (retired) Fred Holroyd in June 1975.

Mr. Freeman

No medical board was held on Captain (Retd) F. Holroyd in June 1975. However, a full medical board was held on 1 July 1975, following a special confidential report written in June 1975.
